My trek to Peb Fort

I've summited the Peb Fort trek twice. Once during the scorching Summer season and the other during Monsoon. Other than the audacious trail and the temple, there is one thing that, not every trekker knows about.

En-route Peb Fort Trek

During my trek in the Summer, after reaching the summit, I alongside my friends, while descending did not take the usual path of the trek. We went through a narrower and a not so known trail. Whilst on this trail, we found a small pond, a few small points and, the hidden caves.

Yes, hidden caves

These caves near the Peb Fort were among those places which hardly people knew about. With idols of Hindu gods and similar paintings, the caves looked creepy as there was water filled in some parts and some of the walls were damaged (to some extent).

One of the gates of the caves

One of the entrances of the caves had a gate but it was corroded and almost broken. From the inside, these caves looked a small hall where folks from the village meet. Although not a typical hall, there were a few seatings as well in the caves but most of them were either broken or filled with water.

Wall paintings, idols and a few pictures of Hindu gods; the caves looked more than a hall. They looked as if they were a place of worship of the locals.

After spending roughly 40 minutes exploring the caves, we continued our descending towards Matheran.
